When you look through some of the old documents that came to light for the history exhibition a number of surnames recur–families who have had a long connection with the village. Among the names are: Coppen, Balls, Garrod, Westley, Mayfield, Loates, Heath, Potter, Smith, Taylor. Some of the names appear on the Fire Watch rota from 1942 as well as on the war memorial in the Church.
